Varanasi is directed by Rajamouli, best known internationally for films including RRR. The movie stars Mahesh Babu alongside Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran. The story is built on an epic scale and moves across multiple locations and time periods.
The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 7, 2027. It is also notable for being shot in the 1.43:1 IMAX format, making it the first Indian and first non-English-language film to use that format for its production.
