A curated screening series featuring Steven Spielberg’s science fiction films will launch in May at the Jacob Burns Film Center, celebrating his legacy ahead of his upcoming release.
The Jacob Burns Film Center has announced a dedicated science fiction screening program centered on the works of Steven Spielberg, aligning with the anticipation surrounding his upcoming film “Disclosure Day.”
The series is scheduled to begin on May 9 with a special 35mm presentation of “A.I. Artificial Intelligence,” setting the tone for a retrospective that spans several decades of Spielberg’s contributions to the genre.
Throughout the program, audiences will have the opportunity to revisit major titles such as “War of the Worlds,” “Minority Report,” “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial,” and “Ready Player One.” The series will conclude on June 21 with “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” one of Spielberg’s most influential works.
In addition to the screenings, the center will organize post-show discussions and expert-led talks, offering deeper insight into the themes, technological vision, and cultural impact of Spielberg’s science fiction films.
The initiative also builds momentum for “Disclosure Day,” a new project reportedly exploring extraterrestrial narratives, starring Emily Blunt and Colin Firth, and scheduled for release on June 12.
